Balaclava Weather tread a brazen line between balladry and DIY chaos. Exploiting acoustic, ambient and electronic sounds for their vandalised pop crimes. A combination of nostalgic synths and drawling guitar render sonic backdrops for karaoke-esque twin vocals.

Balaclava Weather are independently recording their first album while residing in Bundeena. Their first single Moons is out now.

12:50pm - 1:30pm - FEATURE ACT: Mr Bamboo

The Sounds of Mr Bamboo could be described as gypsy swing meets Tom Waits, Devo, Zappa and Ween, blended into an awe inspiring daiquiri to form this amusing skank/jazz/pop trio that is sweet, fulfilling, drunk and eventually sour.

Made up of Vocals, Violin, Resonator Bass, loops, and Guitar Mr Bamboo produce a humorous sound that combines acoustic instruments with Lo Fi electronics. Mr Bamboo explores complex human traits from paranoia to relationships to cleanliness to a physical expression of desire and the taboos that surround such delicate issues, all without having to resort to serious thought.

They've appeared at just about every major music festival in the country, released a high charting compilation album, released tracks and albums in the UK and Japan and been one of the most played rock-steady reggae got soul bands on Australian radio.

Sure, there are plenty more dreadlocked surfers with too much time on their hands thinking reggae is cooland, so easy to play bro!, than the world can stomach. King Tide are different. Yeah, they surf, and yeah, they play reggae. But they have roots. Not only in the music they celebrate, but in their musicianship. This is a collective of vast experiences whose members have made committments to master their instruments and it shows.
